Welcome to Tutu Trot 2012

Gem City Ballet is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization resident at Pontecorvo Ballet Studios, 20 Commercial Way in Springboro. Pontecorvo Ballet Studios is a new business in Springboro, having just relocated from 19 years in Dayton.  The Company consists of approximately 20 mostly high-school age pre-professional dancers who are devoting their time and energy to realizing their dream of becoming a professional dancer.  And in its 20-year history, Gem City Ballet has succeeded in placing over 20 dancers in professional companies.  Others are working as dance educators, journalists, newscasters, teachers, bankers, stage managers and for NASA.

As a non-profit, GCB relies upon dancer fees and donations from the general public.  One of our most important performances in the past eight years has been our Victoria Theatre Gala, a venue that costs over $5000.00 before we even walk in the door.  But the end result is an incredible evening that presents our dancers in the best possible light and includes guest professional dancers from well known professional companies.  In addition, GCB self-presents two other repertory performances and participates in many other outside performances, including fund-raising performances for Cystic Fibrosis and Crohn’s Desease.

Gem City Ballet is dedicated to providing dedicated young students with every opportunity to work with professional quality staff, choreographers and support people in the art of ballet.  In addition, 90% of our dancers have a 3.9 average in their school studies.  Dancing on this level teaches confidence, focus, ability to prioritize, ability to face your peers and superiors, ability to work easily with others and, most important of all, the strength to NEVER GIVE UP.
